CATATAN PERJALANAN SIDI BADRIS DARI  RIAU   16 SEPTEMBER 2006 

Ring-ring..telefon dirumahku banglo berkembar Presint Promenade, Putrajaya berbunyi. Sang isteri lalu angkat.. ah tiada kenal suara orang ini. Lalu aku ambil gagang dan bicara dengan pemanggil asing itu. “ Saya Badris, dikirim oleh Bapak Angka dari Riau untuk berkunjung dengan sahabat jemaahnya di Kuala Lumpur. Dia bilang nama Sidi Karim dan Sidi Amir. Saya baru habis hadiri seminar Jaringan Alam Melayu Antarabangsa di Melaka dari 13-15 Sept. 2006’. “Okay, saudara bisa jumpa saya pada petang atau malam Sabtu ini. Kita ada majlis zikir dan pengajian The Hundred Steps Sh.Abdal Qadir as-Sufi dirumah Sidi Muzammil di Bangi. Harap telefon lagi bila sampai Kuala Lumpur’.  

Besok harinya, langit amat cerah dan awan biru bergerak ditiup angin melepasi ruang damai persekitaraan Putrajaya and Cyberjaya. Kira-kira 4.00 petang ring..ring..ah bunyi telefon lagi. ‘Sidi, saya Badris sudah sampai di Putrajaya. Mahu salat Zuhur sekarang. Saya naik bas dari Puduraya, turun di Kompleks Perdana dan jalan kaki sampai Mesjid Besar tepi tasik’. ‘tunggu didana. Sepuluh minit saya akan sampai dengan kereta Neo Satriaku. Lepas mencari parking ditepi pohon lazuardi, lorong as-Souq, aku berjalan kepintu mesjid. Sidi Badris melabaikan tangannya bila kenal saya dari jauh.

Kami pernah bersua ketika berlansung Seminar Pengakraban Murabitun Riau-Malaysia di Tanjung Pinang pada Disember 2005. Lapan fuqara dan 2 faqirat Malaysia menaiki feri dari Stulang Laut berjaya mendarat dan disambut Pak Ahmad Angka dijeti. Van mini sedang menunggu kami dipandu oleh Pak Boerhanudin. Kami bersalam dan berpeluk erat bila bertemu diruangan air pancur masjid. Wah, ramai pelawat asing petang itu. Ada berbangsa china, jepun , arab dan Pakistan. Apa gelora rasa yang manusia moden gersang sedang mencari pemandangan indah ? Sementara itu…khazanah dan permata hikmah islam hilang dibawa arus konflik, catur politik, perang, korupsi, faham ismaili, kemajuan ekonomi, naga kapitalis dan bunga-bunga riba dihiasi neon globalisasi.  

Anak muda Sidi Badris berasal dari Sumatera. Berusia sekitar 27 tahun. Belum kahwin atau belum mampu mendirikan rumahtangga. Ramai muslimah menanti. Warga Minangkabau ujarnya. Serigarpari.. tak jelas marga kampungnya di Padang. Orang tuanya keturunan alim dan bercucuk tanam kopi dll . Atas gunung sejuk, amat subur juga. Tapi sudah lama merantau ke Jakarta, terlibat gerakan reformasi islam ketika di Universitas. Bantut belajar, tak habis ..apa sebab tiada dinyatakan. Kemudian berkelana musafir ke Kepulauan Riau (Kepri). ‘ Asalnya saya mengaji di beberapa pesantren dan mahir juga bahasa arab. Tiada kerja tetap. Boleh juga mengajar kitab-kitab macam Minjaul Abidin, Hidayatul-Salikin, Hadis Bukhari-Muslim, Hadis 40 Imam Nawawi dan Hikam Ibnu Athaillah.’  Jadi sekarang, saya diamanah buka Wakala Dinar Emas di Riau atas dokongan Pak Angka dan Pak Huzrin.

Ketika ditanya : ‘ Saudara boleh berbahasa Inggeris  ? Dia jawap: ‘Maaf, bahasa Inggeris saya amat kurang. Seputar faham 20% sahaja’. Sidi Badris kagum melihat pemandangan indah sekitar Dataran Putrajaya, Boulevard dan ternampak Istana Agung Melawati disaluti atap merah serta Residen Perdana Menteri warna hijau muda.’ Disini hampir 80% pejabat Kementerian,agensi dan kantor Kerajaan Federal Malaysia telah dipindahkan dari Kuala Lumpur’. Kami naik kereta berpusing di jembatan gantung unik, keliling tasik dan masuk ke Presint 10 dan menuju Presint 11. ‘Rumah Dinas’, kata Badris bermakna rumah atau kediaman rasmi pegawai kerajaan jika di Indonesia. Bukan rumah sendiri. 

Sambil muzakarah berbual dan minum teh petang, kami bincang juga kisah –kisah Umar Vadillo, Shaykh Abdal Qadir as-Sufi, Amir Ahmad Iwan Bandung, Sidi Abbas di Jakarta, Dr.Asadullah Yates dan Rais Abu Bakar Rieger yang berkunung ke Indonesia  tahun 2005 yang lalu. Sidi Badris kurang mengikuti perkembangan murabitun dunia luar kerana tiada memiliki komputer internet. Masih miskin dan kalau mau, kena pergi ke Warung-Kafe Internet. Rp1,500 satu jam katanya. ‘. Homepage Islamhariini.org yang masyur itu berbahasa Indonesia itu dia belum kunjungi. Kesian, juga. ‘Nah, lihat ini gambar –gambar Guru kepada Shaykh kami iaitu Shaykh al-Kamil Muhammad ibn al-Habib, Shaykh Fayturi, Shaykh Zamzami dan beberapa sufi-fuqara Maghribi, Wali al-Bahlil as-Sahrawi , Mulay Sadiq, Sidi Hasan .

Badris termenung sebentar dan bertanya, ‘ Buku Meaning of Man – karangan Sidi Ali al_Jamal, saya belum baca. Wah…jika penulisnya Guru kepada Shaykh al-Arabi ad-Darqawi, tentu dia banyak karama dan baraka. ‘It is book for the shuyukh’. ‘One word or one sentence from the light of the wali can transform a seeker’.  One man of inward can illuminate a whole city. We write it on the cave wall. We write it on your heart’. Demikian beberapa komen mengenai buku ini. Ada juga berkata- ‘ Aku sudah baca, tak berapa faham’. Pintasku, ‘ Buat zikir dan duduk dengan fuqara dulu. The hearts of awliya are the ruh or support for books. Reading books alone can be veils to traveling. So many kuffar orientalists wrote and commented on Ibnu Arabi books. Are they muslims ? Are they become Sufis ? Look at such names as William Chittick, Choldzerski, Henri Courbin, Carl Lewinson, Anne Marie Schimmel and T.Isutzu.’ Sayang sekali, pada tahun 1982, buku Meaning of Man yang dibeli dengan harga RM35 telah hamba sedekahkan kepada seorang tetamu dari Filipina semasa zawiya kami bergerak di Gombak. Kini ianya diterbit semula oleh Madinah Press, 2006 dijual harga RM120.00 di kedai-kedai MPH. Bagi diriku, mahal bukan kerana wang ringgit. Manuskrip tunggal kitab ini diwaris dan dijaga dengan penuh rahsia oleh keturunan Sidi Ali al-Hassani. Masih dibaca dizawiya dan disyarahkan oleh muqadim-sufi dimalam Jumaat di Kota Fez, Maghribi untuk sekelompok fuqara terasing. Tubba alal-ghuraba.  

‘This Darqawi line of teaching still survive today. They hide in mountain, live in the city, retreat to desert, serve as Alim, travel as traders, act as imams, they sing Burdah, open a Tea shop in Weimar, Just renovated a book shop in London- Taqwa Publication. Managing a Flower farm at West Java and churns out bread-bakery at Chiapas, conduct Heideggerian and Zen studies at Dallas College. They publish a one-off Magazine- Sinar 2000 for the Islam Political Economy Conference organized by USM and Muzium Islam, Yayasan Bukhari and Muslims of Europe Society. Another faqir taught advance statistical and mathematical simulation for gold-financial investment at UTM and one got halfway of PhD dissertation on AI with University of Nantes, France. 

 ‘Saudaraku Sidi Badris, jangan tinggalkan Pak Angka seorang diri dalam kerja dakwah ini. Bantu dia mengadakan majlis zikir’. ‘Dia panggil saya- Tuan Guru..ha ha..walaupun saya bukan alim dan tak habis mengaji’. ‘Pak Angka, murid istimewa Sidi Shaykh. Dia telah diamanahkan untuk mengutus secara peribadi tiga surat dari Shaykh atau Rais kepada Pemimpin tertinggi di Jakarta’. Hasilnya Bapak Adi Sasono ketika itu memegang Menteri Koperasi dizaman Gur Dur amat bersetuju dengan gagasan Dinar uang umat Islam. Rombongannya juga menghadiri Moussem Shaykh di Cape Town pada 2003. Tempat bersemadinya makam seorang Pahlawan Nasional –Shaykh Yusuf Makasari al-Khalwati. Ibu Rachmawati Sukarnoputri  juga pernah bermuzakarah dengan wakil Sidi Shaykh dan mau membuka Studi Ekonomi Dinar di kolej atau universitas swasta bersama Institut Weirmar dan Granada Islamic Center. 

 ‘Seorang pencari yang diberi IZIN sebagai Muqaddim (pemuka, pelopor  atau wakil Shaykh untuk menghidupkan wird dan amalan tariqa) merupakan cahaya lilin dimalam gelap dilanda gelombang angin ribut dan kilat. Jangan biarkan api dia berpusing, kecil-besar, malap atau terbakar habis, jatuh dan dipijak orang’. Hidupkan jalal zikir, selawat dan doa dari Diwan Shaykh Muhammad ibn alHabib.’ 

Siapa saja murid yang diberi amanah menjalan tugas ini dan berkhidmat kepada fuqara dengan nur isyarat dan pertalian rohani kudus..dari gurunya yang muhaqiq , dialah seorang muqadim. Walaupun tak bernama, tiada pangkat dan tidak alim sangat dalam bahasa arab atau pengajian kitab. Walaupun dia masih amat muda..’. Ada muqadim Darqawi yang berusia hanya 20an sahaja dan fuqara tua lebih 60-70 tahun duduk menghormatinya. Demi penyerahan hati , kasih sayang, keyakian teguh dan ketaatan mukhlis keatas tilikan Sang Mursyid yang lebih mengenali alam-alam nafsu, mulk dan  malakut yang sudah ditempuhi. Sudah dilipatkan dalam fana. Disembunyikan balik tabir basyariyyah. Ini bukan berarti sudah tertutup. Masih terbuka untuk hati yang dahaga dan intelek yang cekal. Hud-hud yang Terbang tinggi di Hamparan Quddusi, pulang membawa kicau Rohani. Sinar Kewalian. Izin sang Khaliq. Setitis Marifa dari Telaga Rasul. Teguklah kamu dari cawan-cawan, piala dan gelas diraja para Awliya-Salihun.

Dizaman pancaroba. Zaman sufi palsu tersibar luar. Zaman orang tak mahu lagi memadamkan ‘title’ keakuan dan kehebatan jemaahku. Bacalah kitab terjemahan bahasa Inggeris Shaykh Ibn Ajibah –The Basic Research (Mahabith al-Asliyya). Ini kayu ukur kita keatas para pendokong, pendiri dan penyibar jalan sufiyya. Potong nafsu dia dengan fana dan baqa. Leburkan dia dilautan al-qudra. Periksa dia sudah melepasi hijab dinding malakut. Belum lagi padang luas al-jabarut tak bertepi. Tak berbahasa dan tiada penghuni. Siapa yang masuk rumah Abu Yazid dan menyeru – Oh Abu Yazid, dimana kau ? Ada suara menjawap: ‘Abu Yazid tiada disini. Dia sudah pergi, bersama mereka yang berpergian’.  Manusia mencari musyahada dibumi nafsu, manakan jumpa sebab nur sang wali haram dibukakan kepada anak jalanan yang buat bising. Anak santri yang sudah banyak berguru. Senaraikan kitab-kitab yang kalian pernah duduk mengaji..Tiada adab untuk menunggu. Mengetuk pintu bila diizinkan. Panjat dulu gunung mujahada. Sucikan dahulu janabamu dengan air gunung Jabal Alami. Imam Junayd berpesan- ‘Jika sang murid tiada bekalan Air Segar dari mereka yang ada IZIN, maka hendaklah kamu bertayyamum dengan DEBU Kering atau BATU sahaja.’

Malam Rabu 16 September sungguh bertuah buat Sidi Badris. Dimana kita akan jumpa para fuqara sejati seperti yang dipuji oleh Sh.Abu Madyan:

 ‘ Mereka –fuqara-adalah ibarat para Sultan, Putera  dan Pemimpin.

Semoga Allah mengumpulkan aku bersama mereka dan mengampuni kesalahanku.

 Bila daku mendengar khabar mereka ?

  Majlis mereka meninggalkan baraka keharuman.

Tinggalkan bagianmu (keraguan/kekurangan), bila engkau diletakkan dihadapan (qadama).

 Sebelum berangkat ke rumah Sidi Mazli di Seksyen 4C,Bangi, kami salat berjemaah Maghrib dahulu. Sempat juga dibacakan Selawat Najjiyyah dan doa Bi-jahi Nabiyyika Mustafa dari Diwan SMH. Ada satu rangkap doa sangat berkesan dihati kami iaitu : 

 ‘Allahumma anzil alaina fi hadzihi sa’ati min khairika wa barakatika.

 Kama anzal-ta ala Awliya-ika wa khassasta bihi ahibba-aka.

Warzuqna min-ka mahabbatan wa qabulan..

 ( Oh Allah, turunkan pada saat/waktu ini segala kebaikan dan barakaMu pada kami,apa yang  Engkau kurniakan  kepada para AwliyaMu dan kurniakan kepada kamiApa yang Engkau khususkan kepada mereka yang Engkau kasihi dari kalangan hambaMu.Dan bekalkan juga kami dari sisiMudengan Kasih Cinta dan doa diMakbuli..) 

Tidak lupa dicatitkan mereka yang hadir malam itu : Sidi Ikrami, Sidi Abdal Rahim, Sidi Khairudin, Sidi Syedi, Sidi Muzammil dan isterinya. Seperti biasa, kami mulai dengan bacaan Miftah al-Wird dan diikuti dengan satu Qasidah iaitu  

Kam laka min ni’matin alayyaWa lam tazal muhsina alayya 

Jalal-chorus zikir:(Allahu Allah ..Allahu Rabbi..Auni wa Hasbi ..mani siwahu Auni wa Hasbi ..mani siwahu )

(Engkau telah menjadikan aku Muslimjika bukan kerana Fadhal-KemurahanMu pasti aku tidak mengenal akan Nabiku)

 Ya Rabbi salli ala NabiyyiMaa tuliyat suratul-Mathani Wa ath-lubul haqqa fis saadahli-kulli man dhammahu zamaani. 

Malam itu, kami mengulangkaji pelajaran atau kupasan mengenai buku The Hundred Steps SAQ sejak dua bulan lalu iaitu topic-topik berikut :

 Minggu pertama Ogos                         – Bab Nafs

Minggu kedua Ogos                           – Bab Ruh

Minggu ketiga Ogos                          – Bab Sirr

Minggu keempat Ogos                       – Bab Mulk

Minggu pertama September                  – Bab Malakut

Minggu kedua September                    –Bab Jabarut   

Perlu dijelaskan ini buku pertama dihasilkan pada tahun 1980 selepas guru kami menerima IZIN sebagai Shaykh al-Mursyid dengan menamatkan suluk sufiyyanya dibawah bimbingan Shaykh al-Fayturi, Benghazi Libya. Dia adalah pewaris wilayat yang tersembunyi dari Shaykh Mustafa Ahmad Alawi, Mostagnem, walaupun terdapat cabang lain tariqa Alawiyya-Darqawiyya disampaikan kepada Shaykh al-Hashimi di Jordan. Shaykh Fayturi berkata kepada guru kami: ‘ You are free now (finish/complete your suluk as to become a Sufic Shaykh). No hand are over your hand. He has the authority to join the separate branch of Alawiyya and Habibiyya as the overflowing Darqawiyya-Shadhiliyya again. Sufism is not about silsila or Shuyukh. Not wirid, wazifah or zikir, but the real matter is Marifa !  (Do the teacher you take from had the real jewel of Marifa, meaning only the true Wali possess this wisdom, others are inherited/self appointed teachers). In the sufic steps outlined by Sh.Abdal Qadir  clearly showed that a seeker must master, struggle and overcome and experience through the battlefield and arena of six things : journeying through the  nafs, ruh, sirr and then passing over the realms of mulk, malakut and jabarut..!

No other short cuts. Take this message.. and return to Riau. Begin a new adventure ! May Allah unite us again. Jam dinding mencecah 11.15 malam. Besok kebanyakan kami akan bekerja dan bangun awal pagi. Terima kasih, tuan rumah kerana menyediakan makanan lebih dari kadar dibenarkan. Termasuk sebiji cheese cake dari Syedi, kaset CD bacaan Doa Nasiri hadiah dari Sidi Khairuddin dan diingatkan supaya memulangkan buku Sheikh Izzudin Abdul Salam mengenai catatan bahasa kiasan allegori sufi dari alam tumbuhan, bunga, pohon dan haiwan. Ianya satu cermin atau symbol kepada berbagai jelmaan nafsu, akal, ruh dan hati sang murid dalam merentasi alamaya ini.

Sidi Badris meninggalkan begnya dirumah saudara di Kundang, Sungai Buloh dan akan bermalam di rumah sahabat kami di Kajang Utama sebelum dihantar ke stesen bas esok menuju Kuala Lumpur. ‘Tidak lupa, kirim salam pada Pak Angka dan Pak Huzrin serta hadiah buku berjudul ‘Kesultanan Melayu dan Ahlul-Bayt di Nusantara’ oleh Suzana Othman, Crescent Press 2006.’ Buku ini menyarankan kebangkitan Sultan/raja Melayu, para Alim Ulama/sufi serta keturunan Sayyid/Sharif untuk menaungi, mempertahan dan menyuburkan din Islam. Cinta kepada Allah dan RasulNya. Menghidupkan majlis ilmu, zikir, selawat, Burdah, ajaran sufiyya, fiqh-hukum Shariat islam dan berwaspada terhadap fahaman modenis dan tipudaya kuffar. Penulis juga menggalakan bacaan Doa Nasiri dilampirkan diakhir bukunya. Yang menarik diceritakan juga gelombang kedua kedatangan para sayyid/sharif jurai al-Idrus, al-Attas, al-Haddad, Ba Alawi, al-Jufri, al-Bakri, al-Husayni dan al-Segaff yang bertaraf Alim Ulama, Awliya, Shuyukh, Imam dan Ahli Sufiyya ke alam Melayu Nusantara apabila berlaku konflik dan peperangan saudara di Timur Tengah yang mengancam survival Ahlul Bayt yang mulia.

Buku ini diberi kata pengantar oleh Sayyid Umar al-Idrus, cicit Tok Ku Paloh Sayyid Abdul Rahman al-Idrus yang dianggap Guru Mursyid oleh muridnya Sultan Terengganu  Zainal Abidin III. Sultan Pahang juga mempunyai seorang Shaykh Tasawwuf pada zaman yang sama bernama Tok Ku Bermin. Arwah Sultan Idris Shah di Perak juga pernah berguru kepada Shaykh Muhammad as-Samani dan diberi kedudukan sebagai Mufti Negeri.  

Demikian juga di Negeri Sembilan, hampir semua Mufti Negeri adalah pemuka dan pemimpin Tariqat Ahmadiyya Idrisiyya seperti Muhammad Said Linggi.  Shaykh Ahmad Zain al-Fatani pernah mengirim surat kepada Sultan Kelantan, anak muridnya dengan panggilan anakanda dan mendoakan pemerintahan Sultan dan menjaga kekuatan Islam di Kelantan agar tidak dicerobohi kaum kuffar dan penjajah British dan Siam ketika itu. Beliau juga dilantik oleh Khalifa Uthmaniyya berpusat di Istanbul untuk mentashih, mentahqiq dan mencetak buku-buku agama/kitab-kitab jawi dan arab untuk kegunaan umat Melayu Nusantara.

Kini usaha itu diteruskan oleh cucunya Tuan Guru Wan Muhammad Saghir Abdullah. Penulis Ulama Asia Tenggara terkenal, pengasas Yayasan Fataniyya dan Pondok-Pesantren di Mempawah, Kalimatan Barat. Pak Huzrin kita apa kurangnya pejuang umat Islam Kepri, ditarbiyya dalam penjara Sukamiskin Bandung, pewaris Raja Ali Riau, Tuhfat an_Nafis, calon Gabenor dan Robin Hood moden, dipertemukan dan bayat dengan Rais Abu Bakar Rieger. Akhirul kalam, berikut ini kita nikmati Sajak Nurnusantara cetusan ilham membara Dr. Abdad ar-Rauwi dari Pulau Mutiara:

Tumbuh hijau tunjang naluri
Naluri pelautraja naluri baktisejati.

NurNya pancaran sabit pancaran bintang
Dari tujuh langit Nurnusantara terentang.
Berbaktilah ia perantara benuaKu
Singgahnya fakir fuqara mencari jalanKu.
UmmahKu kaya pancaran batinya
Getaran Musim uratmuka mukminnya.

As Maulana Rumi, Yunus Emre of Anatolia, Hamzah Fansuri or Hafiz almost 700 years ago pointed out , their songs are not of this sensory-lower-media hyped world, but recognized and sung by the strangers, fuqara , dervishes and muridun who sang the jalals, salawat, zikir, burdah, qasidas and syairs in secretive circles and to draw out the bird of meanings/spirit from the caged prison of bodies to soar to another level of being/realm /existence/station.

They had sold their riches and wealth and freedom just to taste a drop from the Ocean. A gleam of ruh from the Unseen. A light from the arrogant corner of the nafs al-ammara self. A moment of coolness in the Fire of the Friend.

An triple isolation of the self-people, ship-ocean and night raging storms–tranquil darkness/safety in the Fish Belly. Subhanaka la ilaha illa Anta, inni kuntu minaz-zalimin.

The Time, Place, Body and Language of humanity has been folded up in a jalali moment. Look the Mountain had melted away, gone, annihilated and became dusts, nothingness. That is your adamic reality. What are we to claim and acquire this dreamlike malakut realm ? How can any sufi or wali or pretenders make claims they can fly, enter, ascend or withdraw inwardly to this Presence of Nearness ? Witnessing the malakut wonders that make them a slave to miracles and karamat. They talked about it because they yearn, desire and greedy for this special station/maqam.

They had not tasted it like the Tea of Ecstasy. Drink the Nectar of Arrival. From the Cup of Ihsan. Except by the mercy, gift and overflowing of the Real. Not at the time/place they choose/boasted but only after total stripping away (tajrid/tafrid) and being BROKEN HEARTED. STAND at the DOOR.

 Kita mesti mencari kitab Maulana Rumi dalam terjemahan bahasa Jepun sekarang. Musim gugur akan tiba dua minggu lagi. Rumah usang the ditepi lereng pekan kecil Miyazaki semakin sibuk. Beberapa tetamu dari Morocco dan Malaysia akan bermalam disitu. Kenji berpesan pada Masako: ‘Jangan lupa masak sup qusqus dan masukkan lebih terung serta Kentang ! Bubuh sedikit gula batu’. Hanya mereka menjilat lidah dari bekasan mangkuk-mangkuk porcelain zaman Shogun Shirata selepas makan akan merasa keberkatan rezeki Ilahi. Dinegeri matahari terbit, tiada lebih mahal dari silau satori. Lupakan semua politik Koizumi dan matawang yen jatuh lagi.

 Sementara itu, Atiqako sedang mengemaskan bilik tatami dan memanaskan air. Hidangan teh china shu shien bercampur jasmine akan menjadi pembuka bicara. Chanado memang kaya dengan unsure mistik Tao dan zazen yang mengelirukan akal. Diluar pohon-pohon sakura mulai diselaputi warna kuning dan coklat. Daun-daun akan gugur kebumi dipijak para pendita Zen, murid-murid, tetamu asing dan seorang professor Furuzanfar Anqaravi dari Konya. Institut Andallas Nuri diasaskan oleh Bapak Abu Uraira Shan kira-kira 40 tahun lalu. Sudah beratus-ratus pelajar Malaysia menerima segulung ijazah dan pulang ketanah pertiwi selepas lulus dengan kelas ming-qing. Ada seorang dua anak ulamak sufi berjaya memikat gadis Nippon-nin, dijadikan isteri salihah lagi wara dan dibawa pulang ke semenanjung emas. Ada yang bertemu jodoh disana ketika bunga sakura mengembang dimusim autumn. Ming bu fu shi, hui jia. Sayang aku hanya tahu dua patah : sayonara dan kura-kura !

 Masako, gadis berkulit putih merah dari Kyushu sudah dua tahun mengaji dan memasak di Andalllas. Dia amat meminati siri tv Iron Chef dimana 3 Master Chef dibidang masakan China, jepun dan barat akan diuji dan dipertandingkan dengan para pencabar istimewa. Guru Masako bernama Izi Kurosawa berumur hamper 80 tahun mengajar subjek falsafah Zen dan Confucius. Kini di Amerika tertubuh beberapa istitut zen antarabangsa, satunya di Big Sur, California yang sentiasa riang dipukul deru ombak dan tempias angina lautan pasifik. Disanalah 5 tahun dulu aku berkenalan dengan ibu Masako, Nafisa Wan. Gadis kacukan Yunnan dan Melayu Patani. Bapanya telah meninggal semasa menunaikan haji ke Mekah pada tahun 1960. Ibunya amat meminati bahasa dan sejarah China kuno, segala perabot rumah besar pekan Kutan Ali dipenuhi bahan klasik china dan seni kaligrafi dinasti Ming.

 Satu malam pada bulan Julai ketika menziarahi sahabatnya di Setapak Indah, Dr.Zulhilmy membongkar rahsia isterinya yang berdarah china satu perempat. Sebab nenek Masako adalah wanita keturunan China yang dikawini oleh Atuknya seorang alim yang pernah mengembara hingga ke Kwangtung, Fujian, Shanghai dan Beijing. Dia hidup sezaman dengan Sheikh Ahmad al-Fatani dan Sultan Abdal Hamid Khan, pemerintah-khalifah Uthmaniyya yang terakhir. He said: ‘ look deeply to your father, there are jewels of knowledge hidden in him. If you managed to acquire even ten percent of his vast erudite wisdom, count yourself lucky’. The river of Knowledge flows endlessly. From whom, where, when and who will receives it then.

 Aku risau, pondok jamuan teh disebelah bangunan zawiya pengetua Izi Kurosawa masih belum disapu bersih dari daun-daun kering dan sampah sarap yang ditiup ribut kecil dua hari lalu. Cuaca musim ini tak menentu. Minggu lepas hurricane Pasifik melanda Taiwan, harta benda rosak teruk dan ramai hilang rumah. Sahabatku Iqrami menelefon dari putrajaya bahawa asap mini tsunami telah melanda lembah klang dengan teruk. API mencapai 500 mata. Sekolah di port klang dan kuala selangor terpaksa ditutup. Lapangan terbang Subang ditutup dan Menteri Eka Firada sakit lutut terjatuh dari tangga ketika menaiki kereta Perdana Execuitive WZA 444 di Bukit Fraser. Aku pernah bermalan di Silver Clouds Park Resort semasa berkursus pada tahun 2000. what a majestic view and sunset beside chilly coldness. Maulana Rumi 800 tahun dulu telah menasihati kita : ‘ Hantuk kepalamu ke tembok, hantuk lagi hingga engkau faham bahawa jika orang munafik berkata yang halal itu tidak boleh dipraktik dalam zaman ini kerana yang haram telah dihalalkan.

Dr.Anqaravi, Izi Kurosawa, Masako, Atiqato, Sidi Fudul, Amir Rieger dan Nafisa Wan, ah terlupa diriku sendiri Athaillah Shintaro, pencatat nyanyian setia dan pencinta Rumi. Kami akan memasuki pondok Tatami pada pukul 9.00 pagi ketika cahaya Dhuha memancar terang menembusi dinding buluh dan atap bata-bata bakaran gunung berapi Fuji dan lantai kayu cengal yang diimport dan digergaji dari ulu long Passia. Nasib baik Bruno Manser hilang tanpa berita selepas masyur diEropah menentang pembalakan hijau di Sarawak.

 
Dong …dong .. dong..ding…ding…ding. Loceng besar setinggi 5 kaki dibuat dari tembaga dan besi dipukul oleh sidi Fakirato tepat 9.00 pagi. Tuk..tuk ..tuk, Atiqato knock slowly at the door of room 108 of Western View Block. She greeted the honored occupant: Zhao shan ! Dr. Anqaravi san, we are pleased to invite you to attend the tea ceremony at the request by Master Izi. You will be joined later by Sidi Fudul and Amir Rieger from Fez. Two other Malaysian students of zen and eastern philosophy, Athaillah Shintaro and Masako Arifu will also present to serve you and record your blessed discourse with Master Izi. Sebenarnya pada jam 7.00 pagi, aku mengintai ke arah balkoni Western View tingkat 3 dan mendapati dicelah kabus putih halus dan udara nyaman sejuk kebanggaan pendudukMiyazaki Prefecture sesuatu pergerakan ala tai ji quilin qigong. Kedua tangan diangkat keatas perlahan, membuka dada melayang ke kiri dan kanan, kaki diangkat sebelah melengkung. Sedut nafas dalam-dalam dan hebus diakhiri gerakan bangau. Crouching tiger and the hidden dragon. Baju ala mao tze dong warna biru muda yang pakai oleh Dr. anqaravi memang unik. Separuh jelabah dan separuh jubah maharaja ching, hanya membezakannya lukisan halus pohon dan bunga halus pada baju sutera tersebut. Seluar warna coklat tua yang longgar dan lebar memang sesuai untuk senaman pagi dan amalan qigong. Shaykh Alawi, seorang guru sufi pernah berkata:

‘the clothes that the fuqara wear will definitely have effects on them, be careful of what you are wearing.’ Pride, arrogant, humility, wealth, sensuality or detachment can be reflected from what they wear ’ ooops, ini tambahan fiktif dan tiada dalam nota draf cerpen .

 Menjelang jam 9.05 pagi, semua tetamu telah masuk dan mengambil tempat khas dalam pondok Tatami. Master Izi disebelah kanan dan duduk betulbetul ditengah meja Tazkiyaten yang tingginya satu kaki dan panjangnya 10 kaki. Lapan cawan teh kecil dan dua teko Kahfizika. Dr.Anqaravi diselah kiri, Amir Rieger dikanan dan diikuti Sidi Fudul, Masako dihadapan sudut kiri, Nafisa wan dan aku disudut kanan jauh sekali. Penuang the adalah Masako dan Nafisa pula akan mengangkat kuih halveti dan biskut oriyagi untuk setiap tetamu dua keping. Tiada gula untuk teh. Lukisan dinding pondok dihiasi potret abstrak zaman Seljuqi Turki abad ke1300. Berpetak-petak empat segi dan Master Izi pernah 3 tahun lalu membisik pada ku : ‘ Jika engkau dapat membaca dan meleraikan maknawi dari lukisan mantra ini yang dikaitkan dengan mistik Bayazid Bistami, aku akan berkan kamu hadiah istimewa !’. Sampai saat ini aku masih belum faham lukisan itu.

 Setahun lalu, sahabat karibku Sidi Ridha Lua dari Universiti Urumqi, Xin Qiang, China telah menghantar surat padaku menegaskan :’ Mantra itu mungkin berisi ayat-ayat Quran yang ditulis secara empat segi atau kata hikmah orang sufi. Aku pernah terlihat mantra mirip yang engkau ceritakan dalam sebuah buku terbitan Diwan Press, London, 1974 bertajuk –The Way of Muhammad’. Cuba saudara cari buku ini di Men tzi  Bookstore, Ronin Street No.7, Kota Fukuoka. Tuan punya kedai bernama Muhammad Ali Nayabashi adalah kawan rapat kepada mendiang bapaku, Sidi Ariffin Bey. Terdapat sebilah pedang Sahabat Nabi dipamirkan atas dinding kedai buku ini yang diukir dengan perkataan ‘Dzulfiqar dan Qurratul ain’.  Aku tersentak bila Master Izi berteriak: ‘Masako, sila tuangkan teh untuk tetamu terhormat kita. Athaillah, biskut dan kuih sila letak dekat sini ‘.  Selepas itu…Masako berehat dan termenung sebentar ditepi dapur pondok tatami. Titisan peluh mula mengalir dari wajahnya yang comel merah putih. Mungkin lama tak kena sinar cahaya mentari musim sejuk yang agak panjang tahun ini. Baju kimono warna biru cerah dan bunga-bunga sakura merah halus memancarkan lagi kejelitaannya. Tiba-tiba dia teringatkan Buku ChainnanDo karangan T.Suzuki yang tersimpan dalam beg kecilnya untuk dihadiahkan kepada tetamu istimewa pagi ini.

Catatan Ringkas

1968. Shaykh abdalqadir as-sufi diarahkan oleh guru pertamanya shaykh Muhammad ibn al-Habib, Fez/Meknes, Morocco untuk kembali ke England menjalankan dakwah dikalangan bangsa eropah. Beliau diberi izin dan tugas sebagai muqaddim sufi, mengamalkan Miftah al-Wird dan bacaan Diwan gurunya yang berisi berbagai qasidah,doa,zikir, salawat dan ilmu tasawwuf. 1971-shaykh Muhammad ibnul habib meninggalkan dunia.


1972-1974. Beliau menulis buku The Book of Stranger dan The Way of Muhammad yang menarik ramai pembaca barat kepada Islam. Jemaah semakin berkembang disekitar London dan menarik perhatian pelajar Malaysia.


1976. Shaykh abdalqadir bertemu shaykh Muhammad al-Fayturi di Benghazi, Libya dan setelah menjalani suluk/khalwa dan pembukaan nur asrar oleh Allah Tabaraka wa Taala , beliau mendapat izin sebagai guru mursyid. Kata gurunya : ‘Tariqa ini adalah satu. Bukan silsila, wazifa, wirid atau sanad tetapi matlamatnya adalah marifa Allah. Sekarang tiada tangan atas tanganmu ! Journal of Darqawi Institute diterbit-kan mengandungi anika rencana menarik mengenai aktiviti dakwah, terjemahan karya sufi dan ulasan isu semasa.


1976-1977. Sekumpulan fuqara melayu telah diarahkan menziarahi Maghribi untuk mengambil baraka dan pengajaran dari para salihun dan arifun dari kalangan murid dan muqadim shaykh Muhammad ibnul-Habib. Mereka adalah sidi zuhaimi, muhammad shani, muhammad dimyati dan beberapa orang lagi. Wali Bahlil (atau Muhammad Sahrawi, fotonya ada dalam buku The Meaning of Man -Sidi Ali al-Jamal, 1980) dan sidi Muhammad kursi telah membacakan doa khusus untuk kumpulan fuqara dari Malaysia ketika berjumpa di padang pasir Tafilalet dan selatan Fez.


1978-79. Sidi umar pulang ke Malaysia dan memulakan tariq darqawiyya bersama murid yang lama dan baru. Jemaah semakin berkembang dengan adanya majlis zikir/ilmu setiap minggu dan program bulanan. Beliau diberi arahan supaya melawat semua guru dan ulama melayu serta menyampaikan mesej shaykh abdalqadir untuk menghidupkan tariqa sufi dialam melayu. Journal of Islam Vol.1 dan Vol.2 diterbitkan di London dan ada dijual di pustaka buku University Malaya.


1980 Faqir Ahmad Thomson penulis buku Jesus A Prophet of Islam dan Dajjal. Beliau telah melawat Malaysia serta menziarahi pondok di Kelantan. Dua fuqara china muslim sidi hilmi dan sidi hashim mengembara ke Pakistan untuk mengaji bersama shaykh zamzami.


1981. Ribat atau zawiya kecil bergerak di Kuala Lumpur, kemudian berpindah ke Bangi dan jemaah makin berkembang dengan kehadiran fuqara berbagai bangsa. Buku The Hundred Steps dihasilkan oleh shaykh abdalqadir yang mengupas istilah, maqam dan tangga-tangga perjalanan sufi untuk fuqara mengikut tradisi tariqa darqawi-shadhili yang muktabar. Majalah Readings in Islam turut memuatkan beberapa esei menarik sh.abdal qadir as-sufi dan Majalah Nuradeen dari USA.

1982. Buku Root Islamic Education dihasilkan oleh shaykh abdalqadir dan beliau menggunakan nama al-Murabit sempena perkataan ‘ribat’ yang terdapat dalam al-Quran dan Hadis Nabawi merujuk kepada orang yang berjihad fisabiliLlah serta mempertahankan Islam dari serangan kuffar. Beliau mengarahkan fuqaranya mempelajari al-Muwatta Imam Malik, as-Shifa Qadi Iyad, Tafsir Jalalayn, Risalah Ibn Zaid, Ibnu Rusyd, Amal Madinah dan mendalami bahasa Arab.


1983-88. Shaykh abdalqadir menghasilkan buku-buku penting seperti QuranicTawhid, For The Coming Man, The Sign of Sword, Letter To African Muslim, Resurgent Islam, Self Knowledge dan disamping itu melalui Diwan Press/Madina Press, karya-karya klasik terjemahan diterbitkan seperti Fusus al-Hikam Ibnu Arabi, The Meaning of Man-sidi Ali Jamal, Darqawi Letters, Knowledge of God –Sh.Alawi dan Handbook of Islam-sh.Uthman Danfodio.

Dalam tempoh ini, ramai murid beliau telah melawat dan membantu murabitun Malaysia seperti dr.muhammad kassim, umar vadillo, asadullah yates, dr.dalmau, haji abdul hasib, dr.abdal hamid evans, sidi abdullah powell dan haji amin mayet. Sidi Idris Kamaruddin bertemu shaykh abdalqadir digranada, sepanyol dan dilantik sebagai wakil khalifa tariqa untuk alam melayu nusantara.


1989. Buku The Hundred Steps, Root Islamic Education dan Diwan Shaykh Muhammad ibn al-habib diterjemahkan kebahasa Malaysia.


1990.  Shaykh abdalqadir melawat Malaysia selama dua bulan dan mengadakan pertemuan dengan alim ulama, para pemimpin dan fuqaranya, memberi syarahan di Universiti Malaya. Buku Usury the Injustice of Our Times dan al-Muwatta diterbitkan di Malaysia. Lawatan dibuat ke pondok Patani dan Baba Abdul Aziz di Yarang menerima izin wird .

1991-2000. Sidi idris memulakan pengajian tafsir kitab jawi Baidhawi. Sidi shamsuddin memulakan pengajian syarah kitab Hikam Abu Madyan karangan Shaykh Daud Patani. Usaha membuat dan menyibarkan penggunaan dinar emas dilakukan dengan pelancaran oleh Rais Umar Vadillo di Kelantan. Buku The Return of The Islamic Gold Dinar (Umar vadillo) dan The Return of The Khalifate ( shaykh abdal qadir) diterbitkan. Majalah SINAR setebal 72 muka surat dalam bahasa malaysia dan inggeris dilancarkan oleh murabitun Malaysia mengandungi anika artikel menarik dan kupasan isu umat islam semasa termasuk dinar islam, tiang zakat, krisis ekonomi riba, terjemahan kanzun minan hikam abu madyan dan ulasan ringkas buku-buku shaykh abdalqadir.

1998. Melalui usaha dan kontak awal dengan jemaah malaysia, tiga pemuda Indonesia telah membuat perjala-nan ke Tangier, Maghribi untuk menghadiri Moussem Shaykh abdalqadir. Alhamdulillah wa syukrillah, dalam pertemuan julung kali tersebut sidi ahmad iwan telah dilantik sebagai amir bandung dan juga sebagai muqaddim. Perkara ini jarang terjadi tetapi mencerminkan keikhlasan dan kekuatan azam mereka yang mengenali kelebihan seorang guru sufi yang tidak mundur berjihad dan berdakwah disemua bidang. Kini terdapat amir/jemaah di acheh, medan, batam, Jakarta, bandung dan sulawesi. Beberapa buku murabitun telahpun diterjemahkan ke bahasa Indonesia.

2000. Persidangan Ekonomi Politik Islam USM Ke3 diadakan di Dewan Muzium Islam, Kuala Lumpur pada 20 November 2000 dengan thema kerjasama Islam Asia-Eropah yang melibatkan ramai tokoh, intelektual dan pemimpin murabitun dari seluruh dunia. Dr.Hakimi dan Khalid Noorshah merupakan penyelaras utama. Diantara kertas kerja utama dibentangkan adalah seperti berikut :

 Anugerah Doktor Falsafah Kehormat USM

2001. Tahun ini merupakan detik terpenting dalam sejarah murabitun Malaysia dimana usaha lebih tiga tahun telah menyakinkan Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) menganugerahkan Ijazah Doktor Kehormat kepada shaykh abdal qadir as-sufi pada majlis konvokesyen pada bulan Ogos 2001 di Pulau Pinang oleh Canselor USM Sultan Perlis. Beliau juga memberikan syarahan bertajuk – ‘The Return of Fiscal Islam ‘ kepada para jemputan khas dalam siri ceramahan wacana antara-bangsa USM.


Beliau juga berpeluang mengadakan kunjungan hormat keatas Perdana Menteri Dr.Mahathir di Putrajaya bersama Rais Umar Vadillo dan delegasi murabitun tempatan. Persidangan akbar selepas perjumpaan tersebut juga disiarkan dalam mass media dimana Malaysia merupakan negara pertama secara terbuka menyokong penggunaan dinar emas selaku matawang umat islam berhadapan dengan kuasa kuffar global.

Program dwi-mingguan diadakan iaitu malam selasa untuk program ekonomi/dakwah dan malam sabtu untuk zikir/majlis ilmu untuk jemaah murabitun kuala Lumpur. Majlis membaca qasidah selawat Burdah juga diadakan mengikut jemputan disekitar ibukota. Sebuah pejabat ribat tetap sedang dicari untuk membolehkan semua kegiatan dibuat secara teratur dan sebagai puat komunikasi serantau.

2001. Moussem di Cape Town South africa dihadiri ramai fuqara dari malaysia dan indonesia. Dr.Yunus mahmud diberi izin sebagai muqaddim untuk umat islam Mynmar. Usaha mengeluarkan dinar emas mendapat sambutan hangat apabila Islamic Mint ditubuhkan oleh Sidi Anwar.

2004. Rais Abu Bakr Rieger ditemani Dr.Haji Asadullah Yates melawat Jakarta dan Bandung.


Apakah relevannya kisah Burung Hud hud dengan kehidupan manusia yang semakin kalut dengan krisis ekonomi, budaya sekular dan konflik politik agama serta gersangnya pengisian rohaniah sejati? Jika kita rajin dan serius, kita boleh menggali seribu makna dari kisah-kisah Hud-hud dalam al-Quran surah Al-Namli ayat 20. Tuhan Maha Bijaksana menggunakan perlambangan dan bicara seekor burung untuk mengajar manusia beberapa hikmah penting.

Hud-hud adalah simbol pencari kebenaran tak lekang di zaman. Dia pengikut setia, pembawa berita menakjubkan dan ketua masyarakat haiwan dari jenisnya. Hud-hud utusan kepercayaan Nabi Sulaiman alaihi salam. Dia mengikut perintah tetapi tidak buta. Dia tidak hadir perhimpunan ada alasan tersendiri. Hud-hud dipuji di dalam al-Quran. Dia pengikut beriman yang memiliki fikiran terbuka, cerdik dan innovatif. Dari kisah istimewa melencungnya penerbangan Hud-hud, kita dipaparkan dengan kedudukan dan kuasa Nabi Sulaiman dan Ratu Balqis. Dua pemimpin bangsa dan negara yang bertembung kekuatan dan identitinya sendiri. Apakah mereka akan berperang atau berdamai?

Para sufi dan ariffin membuat tafsiran bahawa setiap insan dalam perjalanan menuju Tuhannya telah dibekali dengan syarat/cermin Hud-hud. Semua manusia memiliki Hud-hud yang berkicau dengan berita berita penting dunia, yang terkadang menggembirakan dan kadang menyedihkan. Berita-berita kemajuan teknologi, kemewahan, kenikmatan sensori dan keuntungan material, kebebasan beragama dan demokrasi idaman. Berita-berita zalim, dominasi, putarbelit kuasa elit, krisis wang dan perang sana sini, manusia hanyut tanpa iman dan melawan perintah Tuhan. Dengan kata lain, setiap hidup insan ibarat perjalanan berbahaya dan juga sangat berharga. Setiap kita pasti ada Sulaiman dan Balqisnya, ada penasihat-penasihat di keliling istana kuasa. Siapa patut tunduk pada siapa? Sulaiman adalah akal memimpin dan Balqis adalah nafsu dunia yang mengagungkan matahari material. Sementara itu, Hud-hud adalah jambatan, peneroka dan bekal Ilahi berupa ilham, intuisi, fitrah, kabar, informasi dan petunjuk dari Allah.

Setiap makhluk alam ada perlembagaannya untuk mengisyaratkan sesuatu yang tinggi. Insan dengan akalnya, pohon nyiur dengan lambaiannya, sungai dengan arus airnya, laut dengan gelombangnya, karang dengan ketegarannya, bumi dengan kitarannya, bintang dengan kerlipan cahayanya, burung dengan kicau dan penerbangan bebasnya. Betapa sayap sayap rohani mereka dapat menghantarkan mereka kepada Maharaja Simurgh. Jika Ibnu Sina telah menulis darihal perubatan penyakit zahir dan spiritual, manakala Imam Ghazali darihal peritnya ujian kembara seorang salik dalam Munqiz Minad Dhalal, maka Fariruddin Attar menuliskan Mantiqul At-Thairu bagi mengisahkan keinginan insan kembali ke asal usul syurgawinya melalui penerbangan burung burung metaforis ke arah Simurgh dengan citarasa mistik dan makrifah. Attar bercerita laksana seorang furu hakim seperti Luqman mengajak anaknya menuju Tuhan dengan mengasah dan menggunakan al-Hikmah.

‘Wa’man yu’tal hikmata, faqad utiya khairan kathiran.’


Istilah bahsa burung (Mantiqul Thairi) yang dijadikannya judul kitab oleh Attar ada banyak rahsianya. Ianya satu warisan para Nabi yang dapat menguraikan bahasa batin burung-burung dalam percaturan, konflik dan perdebatan mereka uyntuk terbang menuju Tempat Misteri. Simurgh bererti tiga puluh dalam bahasa Parsi yakni 30 sifat/jenis manusia yang ada potensi melakukan perjalanan khas, mencapai pemberian agung Tuhan.Kesemuanya tewas, gagag atau enggan mara terus kecuali 30 ekor burung yang sampai ke Simurgh. Adakah kita tergolong jenis pencari yang dimaksudkan? Cari dan bacalah buku Attar itu jika anda ingin terbang bersama Hud hud.

Jangan dengar lagu M Nasir sahaja. Seronok tapi hanya sebentar. Akhir sekali saya mengaku mendapat ilham daninspirasi menuiskan artikel Burung Hud hud ini dari catatan Iftitah Sayyid Musa al-Kazim dalam Jurnal bernama Al-Hikmah terbitan MIZAN, Indonesia Bil 15.1995. Perlukah kita terbang ke Jakarta untuk mencari hikmah yang tiada terdapat di Malaysia? Pembaca boleh menjawabnyua sendiri. Kesimpulannya, setiap peluang, peristiwa, buku atau renungan yang boleh membawa insan kepada Jalan Pulang menuju Penciptanya adalah ibarat burung Hud hud. Dia ibarat mursyid petunjuk jalan dan impian yang mesti diteruskan seperti mana penulis fizik moden Gary Zukav mengajak pembaca menari bersama The Dancing Wu Li Masters bagi menemukan hikmah rohani timur.

Jika Dr Sachiko Murata berupaya mendalami bahasa Arab dan fahaman sufi lantas menghasilkan karya masyhurnya The Tao of Islam yang membuat perbandingan dengan prinsip Yin Yang dalam falsafah klasik China, maka selaku Muslim, kita lebih berhak menguasai ilmu ilmu , bahsa dan hikmah yang berkaitan. Oleh itum setiap Muslim atau pencari beraniu yang mahu terbang bersama burung Hud hud sayugianya memahami bahasa wahyu, bahsa akal dan bahasa makrifah yang terbentang di bumi luas nan indah.

Sebagai satu amaran, jangan kita biarkan angka angka matawang , indeks bursa saham dan ekonomi, formula teori sains dan teknology menewaskan huruf huruf bahasa ajaib kurnia Illahi untuk dijadikan peta rujukan semua insan bagi merealisasikan maknawi diri masing masing.

Kata Maulana Rumi, untuk sampai kehujung Jalan dan menemui Simurgh, tidak mungkin bahasa melukisnya. Tidak mungkin sang salik belajar tanpa titipan dan teduhan pondok buruk sang Wali. Tidak mungkin, sang faqir minum tanpa cangkir adab dan syariat. Tidak mungkin sang murid menjadi arifun sebelum dibakar dan disucikan api fana.. bukankah Khawja Yusuf Hamadhani telah menuangkan teh jasmin kepada kita.

Kata guru Attar, wahai pencari kamu kena terbang, terbang tinggi keluar dari nafsu ammarah dan lawwamah. Menuju alam arwah rohani, alam malakut, alam musyahada, bukan alam kitab-kitab dan mengaji, atau sibuk kembara berzikir, burdah, qasidah dan salawat, tapi masih merasa bangga dan ajaib diri. Leburkan gunung-gunung sensori dan tutupkan anika gua marifa tiruan. Dimanakah helang anda, burung Hud-hud atau pelatuk jika hutan rimba dan padang sahara telah gersang. Fa ayna tazhabun. Ghufranaka Rabbana wa ilaikal Masir.

Maulid Celebration With Rais Abu Bakr Rieger at The New Masjid al-Bukhari of Kuala Lumpur 30 Mac 2007

 
We thank Allah Tabaraka wa Taala for the gift of Islam through His Noble Messenger and the Companions who embodied it, polished it , taught, transmit and  struggle/fight to spread this Light to the East and West.

 
We are honored to be present at the maulid gathering organized by Amir of Kuala Lumpur for all Malaysian fuqara some from Penang, Kedah, Johor, Port Klang and four special guests. One is our dedicated Rais Abu Rieger from Germany also the chief editor of Islamic Zietung weekly paper, President of Muslim Lawyers of Europe. Accompanying him are Amir Abdus Samad Nana of Cape Town.

 
Then we unexpectedly welcome Amir Ahmad Angka Permadi Wijaya from Tanjung Pinang, Kepulauan Riau and the kindhearted wife Ibu Dr.Yeni. Bapak Sultan Huzrin Hood ex-chief governor of Kepri Riau was supposed to be with us tonight but his vehicle broke down when traveling from Johor. May Allah be kind to him and enable him to arrive tomorrow to finish his great business and task with Rais Abu Bakr Rieger. He already broke the sensory barrier when giving bayat to our Rais while still in the Cipinang Bandung prison in 2004 due to his dynamic struggle for autonomy of Riau Province during Megawati rule.

 
All praise to Allah, we were instructed to come early before Magrib to the newly built mosque beautifully blue colored and renovated from old waqaf land by the generous funding from Al-Bukhari Foundation. After greeting, salam and many embraces among the fuqara who have not met each other from North, South and Shah Alam, Kuala Lumpur, we recited the Surah Waqiah and Asmaul Husna from the Diwan of Shaykh Muhammad ibn al-Habib which took about 20 minutes. Zoom..just nicely ended before the azan of Maghrib.

 
With prior permission and blessing of the caretaker of al-Bukhari mosque and accompanied by the Imam, more than 40 fuqara, wives and children and other guests were joining the recitation of Miftah al-Wird. Navigated by Muqaddim Sidi Shamsudin and later we sang the Qasidah Shamail from Diwan of Sh.Muhammad ibn alHabib in praising and blessing our Prophet remembering his mauled, the greatest gift of Allah as mercy and light to heaven and earth, jins, mankind and angels. Many hearts were moved, soften and tears and love were awaken for those who heard and absorbed the zikir, jalal, doa and glorification that pour out from the gathering. After Isyak prayer we continue with the Burdah of  Shaykh Busiri.

 
At the end of the session, in an irresistible moment, suddenly Rais Abu Bakr Rieger took the mike and gave a short rousing speech, thanking Allah for his presence tonight. Thanking Allah for the amazing work of dawa by Shaykh Abdal Qadir as-Sufi that continued and spread wider by his noble fuqara and murid in the Nusantara.

 
He made doa that may Allah blessed this country with great, sincere and strong muslim leaders, raising up the true ulama and banner of Islam. He remind us only to rely on Allah Taala, to recognize His power and command, to honor/exalt,eagerly learn and obey the Shuyukh and Awliya. We ask Allah to bless our teacher and gave him the best people and resource for acting fisabililah. Amir Pak Angka of Riau was also requested to give a short speech on the murabitun community and da’wa works in Indonesia which now got ribats in medan, Jakarta, bandung and tanjung pinang.

 
 Muqadim Sidi Shamsuddin gave a keynote discourse on as-Shifa of Qadi Iyad. He said: ‘ Our tawhid or shahada is not complete without ..Muhammadun Rasulullah. This is the key, after Quran, we took on, imitate, honor and fulfill all the rights due to Rasul s.a.w, adhering and embodiment of his Sunna, living wisdom and life transaction. Also the sunna of Companions may Allah be pleased with them because they absorbed it , the best transmitters and true inheritors among the early generations of ulama, salihun and awliya. Say if you love Allah, the follow the Rasul. You will be loved by Allah.

 
What is this love if not based on real knowledge of islam, of taqwa and pure sincerity that give furqan/discrimination to the muminun. By taqwa, false and haqq became clear. Separation is sharia. Following the rules, halal and haram is furqan. Ibadah or worship is also furqan plus deep wisdom and marifa. Those modernists who against Mawlid Celebration of the Prophet, against the Burdah and praise/salawat upon Rasul s.a.w are missing this point. Where are their love. Politics and economic alone cannot solve our dunya problems and conflicts.

 
We end our notes today with doa from Diwan of our blessed great Master:

 O Allah,  bless our master Muhammad, Your slave and Messenger, the unlettered Prophet and his family and Companions and grant them peace as great as the number of

Your creations and Your pleasure and the weight of Your throne and

The inks of Your words.

 Fill our hearts with the lights of Your marifa

So that we may witness Your all Sustaining Gatheredness overflowing in all created things.

 
O Allah, open our inner eyes to your watching and contemplation through Your generosity and overflowing, and illuminate our secrets to the tajalliyyat of Your Names and Attributes through Your gentleness and nobility

And annihilate us to our metaphorical existence in Your real existence through Your forbearance and favour.

 
And make us have baqa-going on by You, not by us, preserving Your Sharia and the Sunna of Your Prophet. You have power over everything and answering becomes You.

THE DIFFICULT JOURNEY

 by Haji Ahmad Thomson ( Taha Publisher,London 1994) -Book Review

This book review was written mainly to show an important aspect of the author journey to perform Hajji or Pilgrimage to Makkah which encompassed his his understanding, guidance, connection and transmission of the living Islam from his Sufic Master of amazing european background. The author himself was a British citizen raised up in Zimbawe, Africa and studied Law at Exeter,Oxford University. He embraced Islam at the blessed presence of  sufi Raja Mahmudabab a descendant of the mughal rulers of India. To discover who were this two men blessed by Allah Tabaraka wa Taala and how life changed around them, we need to read more books or encounter the men who actually meet them. He also the author of other books such Jesus The Prophet of Islam, Dajjal The Emperor Without Clothes, The Way Back and Blood On The Cross. He visited Malaysia in 1980, gave talks, attending dhikr circles , visited the pondoks in Kelantan and unsuccessfully attempting his land trip back to Europe through thailand, burma and India.

 

Life is but a journey of return to Allah. I will not using my own words to review this wonderful book but merely make a selection of passages by the author. Each passages or quotations are indicated by the sub-title of the chapters and events related to the journey. The most important thing to remember is to see Ahmad Thomson as a faqir, murid, seeker and traveler on the Path Allah so we may experienced differently the moving nature of the story. Not as a travel book but the reflection of a seeker going out to test his resolve and trust in his sufic teacher and Allah’s vast mercy and gifts along the Way. This book was available in most muslim bookshops in Kuala Lumpur (e.g Saba Media at Setiawangsa and Specialist Bookshop at KLCC).

This book would not have been written had it not been for shaykh abdal qadir as-sufi almurabit (saq) who showed me the beauty and majesty and truth of  Islam and who sent me out on the hajj.

Each of us lives in a different world, in a different universe, each one true, in a subtle unified patterning that can only be described as perfect. We travel through life, learning as we go, and sometimes we pause.. it was in the summer of 1977 that abdal jalil ( another faqir of sidi shaykh) and I set out to go on the Hajj, the pilgrimage to the House of Allah in Makka, the Difficult Journey as it called. ( I bought the book in 1995 at RM 32.50 . I had read it many times. Ahmad Thomson had traveled to Malaysia in 1980 to visit the fuqara and two muqaddim of sidi shaykh. He stayed a few days with me at Kg.Kerinci. we had gathering of dhikr, sung the Diwan of shaykh Muhammad ibn alhabib and doing the hadra with the students of yayasan anda. He also visited the pondok of tar tujuh in kelantan )

‘what do you want ?  shaykh abdal qadir looked keenly at me and through me as he spoke, as if he already knew exactly what I wanted to, but was just asking the question so that I would discover the answer for myself. I looked into my heart…I seemed to be living in books. I was tired of words, especially printed ones. I wanted action. I wanted adventure. I wanted to be out on the open road , traveling in the way of Allah. ‘ I want to go on hajj – on foot’, I replied. ‘ it would take far too long! Grinned sidi shaykh with delight, and that seemed to be that….our only instruction from sidi shaykh were to visit the awliya and to sing the Diwan wherever we went. ( There is a malay translation of the Diwan for personal use of the fuqara. UKM is editing a new version to be published soon). We have ticket to Athen and visas to enter Egypt..somehow we quite not sure to make our way to Alexandaria and then down to Sudan, trusting in the truth of shaykh muhyiddin ibn arabi’s words,’ whoever engages in travel will arrive !’ ( this quotation was found the the sidi shaykh book- The Way of Muhammad 1974. I bought a copy before embracing islam.).

Accordingly I passed much of the time singing my heart out, sometimes singing my favorites pop songs, sometimes reciting what little Quran I knew by heart, sometimes singing from the Diwan, and sometimes repeating the various forms of dhikr which sidi shaykh had given me to do, such as :

Astaghfirullah

Hasbuna Allahu wa ni’mal wakil

La ilaha illa Allah

Allahumma salli ala sayyidina muhammadin abdika wa rasulika nabiyyil ummiyyi wa ala alihi wa ashabihi wa salim taslima.

 
Shaykh abdal qadir once said that the effect of eciting ‘ Astaghfirullah’ on the heart is like sweeping away dust with a brush, and that the effect of repeating the prayer on the Prophet on the heart is like washing clothes by hand, and that the recitation of ‘la ilaha illa Allah’ purifies one’s innermost secret.

 

Having found a secluded spot, we held a short gathering of dhikr, singing from the Diwan of shaykh Muhammad ibn alhabib for an hour or so, and the doing a long strong hadra – which is the invocation of the name of Allah al-Hayyu done standing. Al-Hayyu means the Living, the Alive, the One who gives Life. Having completed the hadra, we sat down in a small circle, and I recited the ayatul –kursi in the calm serenity that always follows the invocation of Allah.

 In no time at all we had been swallowed up in Alexandaria’s busy street. We have arrived. Alhamdulillah wa syukrillah. We decided that the best and first thing to do was to to go to the tomb of shaykh abul abbas almursi, one of the exalted teachers in the long line of teachers that stretched , without a break in the chain of transmission of wisdom, from the Prophet sallaLlahu alaihi wasallam, and all his ture followers, to our teacher , shaykh abdal qadir. (abul abbas almursi was the teacher of shaykh ibn ataillah, author of the famous book –Hikam ).

 
We spent the rest of the day resting and catching up with ourselves, not exactly sure what to do next, but in no particular hurry, soaking in the baraka of the presence of abul abbas almursi’s ruh, which is undeniably there. The baraka of the awliya is subtle energy  which emanates from the ruh which is pure light. Whoever is near the ruh of a wali, whether it is be in his body or in his grave or in a true dream, experience its baraka, just as those who stand in the sunlight feel its energy, and just as those who dive in the ocean feel its wetness. It was during this resting space, we decided that we must visit the tomb of shaykh Abul Hassan Shadhili, the renowned teacher of shaykh abul abbas almursi, although we have no idea where he was buried.

Perhaps our most memorable meeting in Cairo was with khalifa Ibrahim, the representative of shaykh al-Fayturi ( the second teacher of  shaykh abdal qadir after shaykh Muhammad ibn alhabib passed away in 1971 ) who was in Benghazi, in Cairo. Just as all the world’s political leaders have representatives in different countries, so do the world’s true spiritual leaders. Just as the world’s embassies are characterize by formality and protocol, so the world’s zawiyyas are characterized by sincere courtesy and good behaviour.

 
At last we arrived at the tomb of Shaykh Ahmad Ataillah, and the beautiful mosque which had only recently been built there by a wealthy businessmen who loved Allah and His Messenger and His Awliya.

This was a rough country. It is said that it is never easy to reach a great wali, and that the greater a wali is, the more difficult the journey is to reach him. If this was true, I thought, then Shaykh as-Shadhili must be a very great wali ! Humaysara was an extraordinary place. We had traveled all day through the desert ,without seeing another living being, and yet here, in the middle of nowhere, suddenly tere was life: a tomb, a mosque, a small village, and people…Like many great walis, shaykh shadhili knew when he was going to die. When the time was close, he summoned his closest murid, abul abbas al-mursi, and told him to prepare two camels for a long journey. ‘ What for ?’ asked Abul Abbas.’ You will see in Humaysara’ replied his shaykh. Sahykh abul hassan as-shadhili spent the rest of his life on the top of a small hill immersed in the remembrance of Allah.

Shaykh abdal qadir once said that outwardly the fast of Ramadhan is like an illness, while inwardly it is a journey. We were well and  truly on on our way to the Sudan in the all pervading baraka of Ramadhan. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace said that those who fast have two rewards: One when they break their fast, and one when they meet their Lord. The custom official looked at us, at our passports, at our declarations, and back at us again. ‘ No money ?’ He said. ‘ Yes , we had no money’. He paused significantly, looking at our documentation, perhaps s not quite sure what to do about us, and in that moment a bearded turbaned man on the other side of the barrier called out, ‘ shaykh abdal bourhani !’ in a clear strong voice. ‘Yes, I replied, ‘Shaykh abdal bourhani’ . ‘ Good’, he said firmly, stamping our passports and letting us through the barrier as if there was nothing more to say. The man who opened the way for us was the muqaddem of the Bourhaniyya zawiya in wadi halfa, and had receive a message from hajj Mustafa in alexandaria that we were on the ferry.

 
The flat desert reminded me of the descriptions I had read of what will be like on the Last Day, when the oceans have all dried up, and the mountains have disintegrated into dust and dissolved like clouds, so that all that remains is a very vast silvery plain of sand, on which all the people who have ever lived will be brought back to life and gathered together and then separated between the Garden and the Fire.

Only one task remained: before we had left England, shaykh abdal qadir almurabit instructed us to visit the awliya and to sing the diwan of shaykh Muhammad ibn alhabib wherever we went. This, to our best ability, we had done. Sidi shaykh also asked abdaljalil to bring him back a hand written Quran from sudan. This we still had to acquire. Strangely enough, the matter had been clarified for us when we had been in the crater of Daribe. During that very cold night I  had a dream just before dawn, that a figure wearing a white robe and turban and holding a tasbih had said to me’ ‘ Whatever you do , don’t visit shaykh hamza again’. On first awaking, I had not really had time to reflect on the dream….on rerunning the dream through my mind, I had realised what struck me as being rather strange about it. Although the figure in the dream had been dressed like a muslim, there had been fire in his eyes. It must have been shaytan trying to deflect us off course, audhu bi’Llahi minas-syaitanir rajim.

 
Accordingly , now that we were back in Omdurman, we went round to visit shaykh hamza one vening after maghrib, and told hm what our shaykh had requested. Shaykh hamza paused. ‘ Hand written Quran are worth a lot of money ‘, he said. ‘ we have only 6 pounds between us’, replied abdal jalil. ‘ keep your money’, he replied’. ‘I was testing your sincerity’. You rea welcome to have one of my hand written Quran. Please give it to your shaykh with my greeting. Only a couple of weeks ago I had a dream in which I met Shaytan riding on a camel . ‘where are you going off now ?’ I asked him. He replied that he was going to England. ‘why there ?’ I asked. He replied, ‘The people over there are intelligent, so I have more work over there than in places like here where people are half asleep !’. Shaykh Hamza who was a large man, laughed heartily. Now we could leave Sudan without regret.

 
I spent some time making dua , asking Allah for all that I wanted, including a safe journey to Makka, and an acceptable hajj and a safe return to England. I also asked for a wonderful life and an easy death, and peace in the grave, and no fear on the Last Day, a swift entrance into the Garden, both for myself and for everyone that I loved and everyone that I met ( including ibnu shin). Finally, I asked to be given what all the the true Awliya are given, the highest deepest knowledge that there is, gnosis of Allah. We had just left the tomb when the adhan of maghrib rang out.

 
Perhaps we were just tired from our travels, or perhaps we had just enough of visiting awliyas, whether in their bodies or in their graves. After all the meeting we had had along the way, I knew for certain that the only shaykh with whom I really wanted to be was my own Shaykh. Although one should not really be concerned with comparing different shaykhs, for it is like comparing different mirrors- whatever their outward forms, they are bound to give you basically the same reflection – I met no one who was as balanced or as knowledgeable or as wise or as correctly behaved as Shaykh Abdal Qadir alMurabit. I realized how pure an Islam it was that he embodied and transmitted, and just how accurate and perceptive and truthful his words were. I could not wished for a better guide and teacher.

 Everyone Is Right

The beauty of it all is that every sincere follower of a Shaykh is certain that his or her shaykh is the best Shaykh in the world – and they are all right, for every one is given the Shaykh that they deserve, in accordance with their own sincerity and strength of resolution, the Shaykh who is best suited to guide them along the path that leads to knowledge and wisdom. One may visit many shaykhs for the baraka and for spiritual gifts and knowledges, but one only takes one shaykh as one’s spiritual healer and guide along the path that leads to self knowledge and gnosis of Allah.

 
Loyalty to one’s shaykh and trust in him is part of sincerity. One of the gifts of our journey so far had been the realization and confirmation of this basic truth. I had always trusted Shaykh Abdal Qadir from the first moment that we had met, but it was good to realize more fully just how good and realible a guide he was, and to know with greater certainty that I had no desire or need to look for any other shaykh.

 
Perhaps also, I realized soon , insya’Allah , we would be visiting the tomb of the man through whom all the Awliya receive their knowledge and wisdom, and without whom there would not have been any Shaykhs to visits or any Hajj to do…even the greatest Shaykh  is only a drop compared to the ocean of the Prophet ..further more ,beyond all these considerations was the fact that in only a few more days we would be in Makka, insya’Allah, immersing ourselves deeply in the worship of the One who is the Source of all the Prophets and all the Awliya and indeed everyone and everything in creation. Suddenly, swiftly at the speed of light, time had flashed by. We were at Khartoum airport, waiting for our flight to be called. It had been truly wonderful. Never knowing what would happen next or whether  we would ever make it, the adventure had unfolded, permeated with baraka and rahma, until finally , here, we were safe, sound  and just waiting to make that short hop over to the Arabian peninsula ! I felt as if I was the most fortunate man in the world !

Published in 1981 North Atlantic Books, California. Out the window, I could see the beautiful fields, lakes and orchards of University Putra, Serdang in the morning sun. Page 157, Chapter 47 of Lao Tzu Sayings

 

“Without leaving his door, one can understand the world.

Without glancing out the window

One can see the Tao of Heaven.

The further one travels the less one knows.

 

That is why the Sage (a Sufi or Wali in Islamic tradition)

Does not travel and yet understands,

Does not look and yet (can) names (things)

Does not act and yet completes (the affairs).

 

Page 159 ,Chapter 48

 

In pursuing knowledge, one accumulates daily.

In practicing Tao, one loses daily.

Lose, lose and lose, until one reaches Wu-wei(Non-action)

Non-action, yet there is nothing left undone.

To win the world one must not act for gain.

If one acts for gain, one will able to win the world.

Desire to reduce desire,’ lose and lose and lose’, until

They reach the state of Non-action..those who act

Rebel against the Tao. Those rebels against Tao

Lack the means to win over the world.

 

Wu wei can also means complete surrender or submission

of the self before the Overpowering Reality.

Total annihilation or fana and

After this event, came illumination of the spirit and

Divine unveilings to the blessed seeker. The nafs, lower desire,

The rebel force, nafs ammara and nafs lawwama had crushed.

What emerge is the light and wisdom of the serene self.

 

The seeker in another sense was being honored and elevated

To the alam malakut where he sees wonders of Unseen. He leaves

His body, intellect, will, power, opinions etc

and fly without wings ! )

 

   

Oh Foot Travellers of marifa do not seek knowledge of books here. Ask and be quick to grasp the passing arrow from abuzuhri two or three teahuts.

Do you know what place you are standing upon now, what earth ? What city or village you wish to enter.Can I choose malaysia or konya, turkey or kazakstan for better.

This man is real. Sidi Kharazi al-Juhuri, he sat with muqadim Haji Issa and Hj Abdal Aziz Redpath. Is his name bequathed by his father or his venerable Taecher.Istanbul, Granada, Weimar,Paris and London are his little grazing trips.

So one day he was given 6 volumes of Rumi Mathnawi translated by Nicholson : read this and do zikir and I will teach you about life! Do you want to turn-dance like the Melvlevis sufis ? What is has to do with this modern mad rushing world ?. Is these two men are walis ? He also blessed with close travel in the company of a man who embraced Islam because of his love for Maulana Rumi…

Quick.quick where you can find and recognize such men in kuala lumpur or elsewhere..they leave a frangrance here and there in their path.
